Where it all began
What began with an old newspaper cutting and stories shared with my grandad, Ronald Senior Sebastenelli, led back through generations—to Angelina, to Newcastle’s Italian community and to a family tradition waiting to be carried forward.
1934
Old photographs, a treasured cone box and a newspaper cutting opened a door into the past. They told of ice cream, roasted chestnuts and Italian family life on the streets of Newcastle.

Past meets present
1934 → 2026
In 1934, our family appeared in a Newcastle newspaper photograph taken at a street carnival on Thornborough Street in Byker. They were selling ice cream and roasted chestnuts outside The Glendale public house.
Ninety-two years later, our story returned to the newspaper as I brought Bastianelli Gelato Italiano back to life, inspired by my great-great-grandparents, Benedetto Bastianelli and Angelina Valente—and with my grandad Ronald beside me.

A wider Italian ice-cream community
My grandad’s uncle, John Sebastianelli, and Victor Sebastianelli were part of the wider Italian community surrounding the region’s historic ice-cream trade. These photographs preserve a glimpse of those friendships and working connections.

Angelina comes to your venue. Setup and service are included; guests choose and pay from the menu.
Treat your guests
£5 per guest
A double tub or cone with sauces, nuts and toppings, or a Sicilian style brioche gelato bun. Guests don’t need to pay.
Styled experience
From £795
Angelina becomes a styled centrepiece and photo point while our team serves gelato. Ask about family flavours and personalised menu options.
Bespoke celebration

A larger celebration built around Angelina and Italian gelato, with options for roaming cannoli and individual tiramisù served to your guests. We’ll shape the details around your day and confirm them in your quote.
